About three weeks on June 2014 until July 2014, I signed up for a homestay in the West Coast of America which are Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. My friend, Jessica and I planned to go together so we had each other, in case we couldn’t make friends there. My group had 10 people including me and Jessica. We were all so awkward (especially at the airport where we met for the first time) because we didn’t know each other. But throughout three weeks spending time together, we were getting closer and closer. I even felt like they were my new family.
Homestay is not only going to another country and having fun. We also studied English there. Two out of three weeks, we had our class in the morning until the afternoon, then we went some interesting places in the cities. We actually had to stick with the schedule, where we had to go and had to do. But there was one day when we had to go to Santa Monica Community College in Los Angeles, and we changed the schedule like we were the bosses. So, we didn’t go there, but we went to Santa Monica beach which is nearby. We had so much fun at the beach and also the pier.
The point of homestay is to study English, to experience living with another family, and also to enjoy the journey with others. I would never forget this memory I’ve had in my brain. It’s too amazing to be forgotten.
